The Context

The new Customs Complex in Quillagua, located at the intersection of the Tarapacá and Antofagasta regions.

Operating in the harsh desert environment, the complex is entirely off-grid, relying on high-efficiency solar panels to achieve full energy self-sufficiency.

The energy system is supported by a robust battery storage unit, ensuring uninterrupted power during periods of low solar generation, and a backup diesel generator that guarantees reliability under any conditions. The integration of the ePowerControl MC provided seamless and intelligent energy management, prioritizing solar power as the primary energy source. Surplus solar energy is used to charge the battery energy storage system, which serves as the secondary power source, while the generator acts as the final backup to maintain continuous operation.

Together, these components form a resilient and sustainable power solution, enabling the Customs Complex to perform its vital role in securing and facilitating trade and transit at Chile’s northern border.
