The context

Since Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico suffers from grid outages, making them rely on backup gensets to ensure reliability. Therefore, this grid-tied system is equipped with an ATS to switch from Grid mode (on-grid) to Genset mode (islanded).
To reduce its reliance on the grid and the 300kW genset plant, a 170kWh BESS and a 50 kW rooftop power plant have been installed.
In case of Grid & Genset failure, the BESS acts as a grid-forming unit until the grid or the genset are available.
The Elum Energy ePowerControl Microgrid Controller eases solar battery integration with the existing infrastructure and maximizes solar penetration on this site.
