How does our microgrid controller work?

Features designed to achieve energy autonomy

Maintenance mode for assets to keep logging data from assets which should temporarily not be used for control. Optimized failsafes to stop devices when communication of key elements are missing.
Automatically blackstart your BESS or gensets units based on a range of available conditions and connect back to the grid when possible.
Management of solar inverters, BESS, genset controllers and breakers to limit export to the grid and import (peak shaving) from the grid in grid-tied configuration, while maximizing solar production
Reactive power is controlled dynamically to regulate PF at PCC or genset level within a configured range. Includes the possibility to prioritize active or reactive power objectives.

Frequently asked questions

ePowerControl MC is the best option for PV/GRID/BESS & PV/GRID/BESS/DG installations. It offers a high end solution dedicated to islanded and unreliable-grid hybrid systems, integrating PV plant, grid, battery storage systems (BESS), circuit breakers (grid, load) and diesel generators.

The solution comes in a pre-wired casing to speed up the installation on site. All the engineering is performed by our team of experts. Please refer to the MC product page for more details.

In case of multiple batteries of different brands, ePowerControl ES & MC dispatch the total BESS active power setpoints to the different BESS configured in the ePowerControl configuration interface.

The produced dispatch ensures that no BESS exceeds the SoC configured range or the active power target range.

(only for ePowerControl MC) In case of a grid failure, the controller starts an Automated Blackstart function, so as to activate the primary islanding mode, by sending orders to switch to either GENSET prime mode or BESS prime mode. In addition, a secondary islanding mode can also be activated, so as to enable a switch from BESS prime mode to GENSET prime mode, if the SoC reaches a minimum threshold.
