Top 5 BESS Brands for PV Hybrid Systems in 2025

Introduction

In this blog, we highlight the top BESS brands used in our projects in Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. Globally, these brands have proven their ability to support advanced energy solutions through consistent technical quality, long-lasting operation, and seamless integration within diverse environments.

1. Huawei

Huawei FusionSolar has held 38% of our quotations over the past year. A standout project in this category is the integration of our ePowerControl PPC into a BESS to optimize peak shaving at La Poderosa Mine in Peru, the country’s first BESS installation dedicated to peak shaving. Huawei’s BESS solutions comply with stringent international grid codes, ensuring seamless integration into diverse grid environments.

2. Sinexcel

Sinexcel holds 32% of our quotations, securing the second position in our supplier rankings. Sinexcel’s bidirectional power conversion systems support a wide range of applications, from peak shaving to grid-forming, making them ideal for both on-grid and off-grid setups.

A prime example is Kulara Water’s off-grid bottling plant, which operates with a 650 kW solar power system and a 896 kWh Sinexcel BESS, providing energy storage and system stability in a fully islanded configuration.

3. Sungrow

Sungrow holds 16% of our quotations over the past year, reflecting its strong presence in hybrid and solar-diesel integration projects. Known for reliable PCS and inverter solutions, Sungrow is frequently chosen for commercial and industrial applications requiring scalable and cost-effective energy systems.

4. ATESS

As of 2025, ATESS makes up 10% of our project quotations. This brand offers PCS units up to 630 kW, making them suitable for scalable commercial and industrial BESS installations, as well as energy storage in microgrids.

Take a look at a battery storage integration of Capitec Bank, South Africa’s largest retail and digital bank. This setup reduces grid dependency, lowers energy costs, and allows off-grid operation during load shedding. The site uses 7 Huawei inverters and a 500 kW battery system, managed by Elum Energy’s ePowerControl MC.

This second project involves integrating solar, battery storage, and diesel generators for a tools manufacturing facility. It similarly uses Elum Energy’s ePowerControl MC system, along with two 500 kW ATESS PCS units and a total battery capacity of 1250 kWh.

5. Kehua

Kehua holds 4% of our quotations and is among the top BESS brands commissioned by Elum Energy in recent projects. Known for its robust storage technologies, Kehua solutions are well-suited for microgrid applications where reliability and grid-forming capabilities are essential.

By integrating these BESS brands into our projects, we have ensured seamless compatibility with Elum Energy’s systems, helping businesses optimize their energy usage and advance their sustainability goals.

Numerous solar and storage, as well as microgrid, installations worldwide have benefited from the proven durability and consistency of these solutions. Visit our references page for an in-depth look at our past projects and additional insights.
